The Regional Durable Solutions Secretariat (ReDSS), the Somalia Protection Cluster and the Somalia NGO Consortium are very pleased to invite you to a two day training on ‘Durable solutions for displacement affected communities in Somalia’ on November 28th and 29th in Nairobi.

This training is a key opportunity for humanitarian and development technical staff to:

  • Foster a common understanding on durable solutions in Somalia, its main features, challenges and opportunities
  • Increase knowledge on legal frameworks, criteria and indicators used to measure progress and challenges
  • Formulate recommendations for the development of a common approach involving all relevant actors

The training content was developed by ReDSS with the guidance of a Steering Committee made of IGAD, the World Bank regional, UNHCR Protection Somalia and regional, humanitarian and development donors, DRC, IRC, NRC, Save the Children, Refugee Consortium Kenya and InterAid Uganda. A pilot training to get initial feedback took place in Nairobi on 24/25 June and was attended by participants from both development and humanitarian actors from across the region.

The training package is now being rolled out in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda and at regional level. The objective is not to have a one off workshop but to support a conducive learning approach through mentorship, cross learning between countries, network of technical people in the region, etc. Further trainings will take place in Somalia next year.

Kindly confirm your participation by Friday 4th November 2016 to Patience Kiara (p.kiara@drchoa.org). Please find attached the agenda of the training. Preparation material will be shared with participants on Monday 14th November together with the exact location in Nairobi.
